unemployed

when i tell people i am unemployed, they give me a weird and somewhat funny look. it was like as though the word unemployed is bad and taboo. and quickly, they would correct me and said oh, you are between jobs huh?!... and of cos, it seemed like they also expect me to feel embarrassed.

hmmm... seriously, what's the fuss about being unemployed? it is a fact isn't it? isn't that exactly what i am now? and i am certainly not embarrassed by it. then again, i supposed many people give me weird looks becos they had themselves tagged additional assumptions to the word. and i believe these assumptions include - retrenched, fired, undignified, useless, and so on.

interesting huh? words are just as they are - words. very factual and often very neutral. but it is often one's baseless assumptions, shaped by ones' experiences, that provide these words with the additional, and if i may add - inaccurate depth and meanings.

cognitive bias as a result of mental models.

sighs.

Normal human stereotyping ....短站的休息是為了走更長的路. On a brighter note, you are paid to take the rest. How many can really afford it? =)
