dad was discharged today after 3 days in hospital. was informed to pick him up in the morning. before his discharge, the doctor informed me that he has a growth in his liver and that this growth seemed malignant, i.e, cancerous. anyway, given his age and his liver condition, he will not be suitable to undergo an op. instead, the doctor suggested doing a local incision and inserting a tube to his liver where they will try to suture the artery that supplies blood to the cancerous areas. in doing so, they hope to be able to kill the cells. success rate not very clear but that seemed to be one of the only way available for him. even then, i was told, it would be quite a tricky thing considering my dad's kidneys are also failing...
to go back as an outpatient and to discuss further this option in 2 week's time.
frankly, i took this news very calmly. rather numbed i must say of all these news, be it for myself, my mum or my dad. just take it in a matter of fact manner. will wait and see...
