for the longest time i have wanted to go bald. not so much i wanted to be bald for the sake of being bald itself. rather, it has been my intention for so long that it had become kind of a vow to myself to do so. to me, cutting my hair short has been a way to remind me not to be too vain about my external looks.
i had wanted to do it when i was in the forces, but was advised against doing so cos there were some guidelines about going bald. yup, it sounded weird but it is true. i literally have to seek permission from my boss officially in writing and get my headquarters to endorse it before i can actually go bald! so in the end, i didn't do so... (i was made to understand that the whole application etc process was becos going bald used to be a form of protest in singapore's early days and to protect servicemen from being treated with suspicion, servicemen who wish to go bald needs to apply for the "permit"). and so for the longest time, i have never really gone bald and instead kept very short hair. but frankly, i do at time enjoy trying out all the different short hair style (you'll be amazed how short hair can come in so many different looks! ok, that's another story).
so, yes, i have finally gone bald.
i have finally fulfilled my wish to go bald for vesak day. and well, it felt cool and hmmm... a little numb, afterall, this is the first time my scalp is exposed to the elements. i thought i looked not as bad as i had expected. hahaha...
:-)
ps: for the record, the bald head in the posted picture is not mine. it is a random pic downloaded from the net...
