happy chinese (lunar) new year

i simply love this video. very symbolic and very meaningful. really brought out the full meaning of why we celebrate chinese new year, folklore aside. it also reminded me how i, when i was dealing with corporate relations years ago, never hesitated to recommend chopsticks as corporate gifts. a pair of chopsticks, properly mounted, makes a very decent and meaningful gift. it symbolises the inseparable nature of the two entities (persons, units, companies, etc) in the relationship. after all, one cannot use only one chopstick if one wants to eat properly. one needs both to work in unison. such is the depth of the meaning of the humble chopsticks.

watching the video made me tear a bit, especially the bits where the lady told her lonely neighbour - it's only a pair of chopstick. this was what my mum used to say to my uncle when he visited many years back. and it also made me reflect on what it means to be chinese, sons of dragons - a race that had survived over 4000 years of history and is now found the globe over, yet bounded together culturally. wishing everyone,

ps: i try as much as possible to avoid using the word "chinese" and instead use "lunar" cos it is a festival that is celebrated by all the different races in sgp. but in this post, i have used it as the setting of the video is chinese in nature.
