i took leave today to bring mum to the hospital eye center for her half-yearly eye check-up. she started coughing and wheezing badly on the way to the eye center. after the check-up and while we were on the way out, i playfully suggested to her that i will bring her to the a&e, knowing that she always resists, for fear of having to be admitted. surprisingly, she said ok. and i quickly took the chance and made a short detour. better go before she refuse to next time round, i thought. but once we arrived at the a&e, her coughing and wheezing stopped. and she was put on the "normal non-emergency" queue. hahaha... i teased her that we will be send home after given some cough medication.
waited quite a while at the triage, and when our turn came, the nurse asked me what happened. i explained accordingly and for some unknown reasons, the nurse decided to bring her into the observation ward and put her onto the bed instead of leaving her on the wheelchair. the process of climbing up the bed took its toll and triggered off the wheezing straightaway. the next thing i knew, she was wheeled into the critical care ward, given 3 rounds of nebulizer and before long, the doctor came out to tell me she needs to be admitted immediately.
thinking about it, i thought it was quite funny actually.
hahaha!
