oh, i am talking about my house (my condo unit). i bought it in 1996 when it was still in the design stage and have lived in it since 1998. 15 years in all.
and after all these years, signs of old age are appearing. things are breaking apart and getting spoilt. for examples, the air-con units are working weird, the air-con louvre has stopped moving, the water heater has stopped working (i bathe with cold water now), the carpentry, kitchen cabinets, and build-in wardrobes are all showing signs of warping, the parquet flooring is also showing signs of water seepage and fungal growth, and worst of all, the marble flooring has also started to "pop up". but well, all these happened gradually over the last 5 years or so. and other than the marble tiles "popping up" recently, there has been no major surprises per se. and of cos, to the untrained and un-noticing eyes, everything still look pretty ok.
i think i can still hold on to these for at least 3-5 years. probably need not carry out any major renovations for now. one consideration is my dog. i think she'll probably go by then, based on the typical 15-18 years lifespan of a mongrel. to subject her to a new environment with new smells would be too stressful to her if i were to do any renovation now. not a nice thing to do to an old 13-year old dog! not to mention of cos, that after the renovation, things will end up getting scratched by her! and also, my mum... to have her move out temporarily and having things all messed up during the renovation would probably be a tat too stressful for her. so... yup. kiv all renovations for now.
haha...
haha...
then again, the bigger question would probably be - should i sell this unit and buy another one?
hmmm...
Buy another one, buy another one! LOL
ReplyDeleteHahha... U think I playing monopoly huh? Buy buy buy.... Haha...
