some years back (must have been a decade or more...), i gave a call to my secondary school science teacher. when i called her, she was already in her late-50s, early-50s. i called her to wish her happy teacher's day, and to tell her that i remembered her, and to thank her for giving her best when she taught us science. i could do so cos in those days, there was no mobile phones and the singapore phone directory still publish people's home phone numbers...
i couldn't recall the whole conversation except that we spoke for quite a long while. and we reminisce about
the secondary school days. it was an interesting and very warm conversation. i couldn't really recall all the details of the conversation except that she said i used to skip and bounce around back then. she shared that as a secondary 2 kid, i was rather well-known amongst the teachers at that time to be a kid who was playful yet serious (about my studies), about being well-known for behaving well... and most funnily, that i was known to skip from point-to-point, that is, i didn't walk like normal kids, i skip! haha... and she related how surprised she was, to see me actually walking and in a very deliberate and down-to-earth manner, when i returned to school one day a few years after graduation.
that particular remark stuck onto my head. till today, i still treasure those interesting and carefree secondary school days!
