flu

mum has 3 medical appointments next week. of these, 2 were newly arranged following her discharged from the hospital. i tried to get the hospital to collapse the appointments onto the same day but they couldn't.

while i have already made arrangements for the pre-arranged appointment, i found myself being caught in a fix for the other 2. while i could accommodate the one that falls on the friday, the other clashed with a full day training that i had to conduct. i texted my second sis for help and she replied that she's down with a cough and thus cannot assist. sighs. my first reaction was that of "sighs, again... whenever i need help, you'll have cough, or cold, or whatever. but you never seemed to fall sick when it comes to your work." i sounded a little sarcastic when i replied her that i myself had to manage mum when i am currently down with a serious bout of flu. and she replied (somewhat reluctantly) that "ok, i'll help".

not wanting to take her word, i texted my brother. he didn't reply but later the afternoon when i brought mum to his place, he said he will take leave to send her. my sis-in-law also volunteered to send my mum for the friday appointment. felt a little awkward to have to trouble her as she doesn't drive and has to take the mrt to the hospital, and to make things worst, she is from mainland china and doesn't really know how to navigate the local hospital system. 

i returned my sis's text in the evening telling her that my brother would assist. she tried calling me but i didn't want to talk to her. she texted me saying its better for her not to send mum as she's afraid she'll infect mum with her flu. well... give her the benefit of doubt. as i have always said, no expectations, no disappointment. and i say this precisely because of her consistent non-helpful replies - mostly about work, or sickness.

i take leave to bring mum for her medical appointments. and at this rate of things, my annual leave will be totally exhausted. may have to apply no-pay leave to bring mum for her medical appointments.
