couple of days ago, a volunteer with the cancer society asked me: "hi sir, do you think it's too much to donate just $1 a day to help and to save cancer patients?". to me, such a question is no different from an indirect emotional blackmail and is rather effective. for sure, it would get people's attention, and to reflect for a while and in all likelihood, agree. and that would naturally be when the person would then ask a follow-up question about whether you would want to do so. right?
anyway, i kinda pre-empted the second question and simply replied: "oh, certainly not at all! but well, you know, i'm just not ready to do it..." i thought my response kinda caught her off-guard for she simply responded with an "orh, ok, thank cute..."
