been pretty caught up with work these days. and things seemed to come in waves. even before i can clearly define what i need to do, my immediate head wants me to do some things for him, things that i felt belongs to his area of responsibility and not mine. and he also wants me to develop some new initiatives and i understand this is something that my top management wants to see done (by yesterday). and even before i can say "the", my chief called me to his office today and asked me to review all processes in the department. and of cos, although he said he will assemble a team for it and to start the review in 2-3 weeks time, i am sure, given my observation of him over the past 2 months, that he would want everything to be done by yesterday too. and this is kinda tricky cos i would be treading dangerous political grounds as i undertake this review cos every processes belong to the ops people and i am not even sure if the ops head is aware of what i am tasked to do. darned! must see how things go. if need be, i will want my chief to open doors for me and to make it clear that the task given to me is to be seen as a positive thing and not an attempt to uncover flaws or to penalize people.
and as for me, i will try to psyche myself that this is a positive development cos they will allocate things to me only if they think i am useful to them and that i can deliver. but the flip side to this is i will die cock standing if things keep tsunami-ing this way in my direction... will see how, if this keeps coming and i cannot handle anymore, i will shout out loud to them...
