flowers...

in the morning...

other than the freshness i feel, my morning journey is very much a visual treat. and rather than talking about everything i see, i shall share a bit about the flowers i see along my daily adventures to work.

as i mentioned, i need to walk through the fringe of construction sites and a park. and this fringe is filled with weeds. and it makes me happy to see so many little flowers blooming around the whole area. there are white and purple coloured flowers that shaped like trumpets, round furry-looking pink ones (mimosa), cream-coloured ones with yellow stamens that look like little sunflowers, and so on... in fact, these different types of flowers all remind me of my childhood days. and some days as i walk, i would reminisce about my childhood kampong days. such is the effect these weeds has on me. time machine. haha...

next comes the park. and as per all other parks in singapore, this one has all the "standard"  bougainvilleas that is constantly blooming as well as the roadside trees. but there is one particular tree that i want to talk about. take a look at the picture. it shows a tree in full bloom. this is the singapore pink mempat (cratoxylum formosum). frankly speaking, i was so amazed and mesmerized by it i stood under it and just went into a semi-state of peaceful meditative trance. there must have been tens of thousands, if not, millions of flowers blooming in unison! and interestingly, as i stood under the tree enjoying the sight, i could feel little petals falling on me continuously... it felt like snow and it gave me the winter in spring feel. magical indeed. and as my sense of presence increased, i began to hear things too. it was a low-toned humming sound. and i notice a bee or two flying around some flowers. and as i started to focus further, an army of bees came into view. in fact, they have been there all the while. i just did not notice them. they were flying around the flowers. and with this realization, the low-toned humming sound became louder. in fact, i became so sensitized to it, it started to sound like what i'd heard before - an "expresswayful" of zipping cars...

such is the wonderful sensory and visual experiences that the flowers along my daily journey gives me.

wonderful.
