i read this forum about how to survive while being broke. and what struck me was the consistency of a few points that was made and these include (1) spend within your means (2) don't borrow! (3) don't borrow to reduce your debt (4) save first then spend what you have planned to spend (5) save, save, save...
very sound advice from many.
thing is - how many can actually do it. when more often than not, there is the high tendency for greed and desire (which is also greed in disguise) to set in, regardless of how noble the intention might be. let me list a few here - i need money to turn my business around, i need more money to save my business, i need money to go for holiday overseas, i need money to get a computer, i need money to bring my so-and-so for a trip...
notice how we can change the word "need" to "want" and the sentences would begin to reek "greed". very easy to use want/ need interchangeably right? issue is, are the items listed above really about "need"? perhaps some are you may argue. but mostly, i think it is simply a real case of "want"... "need" if we really think about it, belongs to the realm of "don't have and your survival will be jeopardized", in another words - basic needs. agree?
think about it...
