i have a friend who's always been critical about local government policies. he is now studying in an overseas university and i managed to meet up with him when i went overseas for a course last week. we met up a couple of times for meals and it was interesting to hear him speak well of our local policies. such a change. he commented how we have been able to get our policies right (most of the time), and despite how some people fell through the cracks, safety nets were put in place and that the government had tried by all means to reach out to people... in contrast, the politics there is just that - politics - and the government promised a lot of things, but it was all talk but no action, the government couldn't and dare not do the right thing for whatever reasons...
well, i supposed when one spends time overseas, one will be able to appreciate home better. this is the same for everyone i know who have gone overseas to work, study, live, etc...
a case of grass is greener on the other side... until one goes over...
