weird questions

mum's momentary forgetfulness has gotten to the point where she asks me questions that were totally not-logical... this evening, she asked if my brother is dead. she really thought he had passed away sometime back.

and in order not to make her panic or stressed out, i simply manage the conversation in as normal a tone as possible. and to jolt her memory a little bit, i asked simple questions like how many children has she got (she answered correctly - 4). and i asked her to give the names of all four children, which she did correctly. and then when i asked her to give me the age of the 4 children, she went - first one 55 (correct), second one 53 (correct), third one (aka me)... she stopped, thought for a while, and said - twenty...

woohh...

  1. if there are any local drug stores selling Ayurveda products, try getting Brahmi for your mom, it's a very good herb to improve memory, kinda has healing effect on the brain, and it also helps to relax the mind...

  2. thank you zerachiel for the suggestion.

she is an elderly person and i see this as a natural progression of her health deterioration. it is to be expected. she is currently being managed by medical experts, experts whom she had been seeing for the last 4-5 decades. am thankful that they were able to help me manage her slow decline over the years well.

    :-)
