well, not just numbers, but rather, any number.
you see, if i recall correctly, since early december, my keyboard started giving my problems. i couldn't type the number "3". in fact, i still cannot. hmmm, ok, shall explain later, how i got this figure here in this paragraph. anyway, let me go back to early dec 2010. it was one nice evening when i opened up laptop and tried to login to do some internet banking. and much as i tried, i simply couldn't get in. after some failed attempts, i found out that i simply couldn't type the number "3". and so, smart alec me tried to repair my keyboard... and next thing i knew, my number "3" button dropped off. hmmm, i had to get it back onto the keyboard again and so, in my attempts to understand how it is attached, i played with my number "5" button... next thing i knew, my number "5" button dropped off as well. arghhhhh... i ended up with 2 number buttons falling out of my laptop keyboard and i couldn't get them back in... damned it...
i gave up eventually. and so till today my keyboard still did not have these 2 numbers. well, i told myself i could simply get by without these two numbers... and so whenever i tried my internet banking or any transactions that required me to key in a number "3", i'd have to start a new tab to find some webpage that has the number "3" so that i can copy and paste. such a trick worked for some sites although for most banks, it didn't allow cut and paste for passwords. when i faced with such a situation, i simply press "refresh" to get a new code... heh heh...
it was rather inconvenient but i guessed i got by rather well over the month of december. and then, this week, i started facing the problems of not being able to use my number "1". and this couldn't do for me. my pin for my first entry into my windows has a number "1"... arghhhh... and so, i ended up not being to use my computer for a couple of days... yesterday, i finally went to challenger to get a usb number pad. heh heh... and so, i am now back in business.
and all these hassle reminded me of one of our most cliche phrase - that we often take things for granted. and we only treasure them and appreciate them when they are not there.
and this, also applies to numbers. in my case, number "3" (and later, number "1").
:-)
