of dead squirrels...

last week, as i was driving out my office compound, i noted a small squirrel lying on the road. i avoided it and continued. my conscience however did not allow me to go further and a short distance later, i stopped my car, reversed and went back to the squirrel.

it looked very peaceful. all curled up, soft and very cuddly. very similar to those baby photos by anne geddes. only that this squirrel was dead. it was the second squirrel i had encountered in my office compound to have died on the road. the first time, the squirrel was ran over by a car and it's head half smashed. this time round, the squirrel looked perfectly fine except for a small drop of blood on it's mouth. it was after a rain and i suspected it might have fallen off the tree after missing its step. whatever the case, it was a sad sight. i picked it up, but was half worried that it might be still alive. its body was still soft, telling me that it had perhaps just died not too long ago. hurriedly, i placed it on the grass patch beside the road and i drove home.

i seemed to have the habit of bumping into dead animals...
