5 cents

went to my usual hum-chin-paeng beh-huay-chi (butterfly) store this morning. bought 2 fritters and paid using coins. amongst the coins were 6 x 5 cents. the lady owner shouted out to me and told me she would only accept at max 2 x 5 cents coins. i asked her why... for 5 cents is still money, legal tender. and she told me, ya, no doubt, but there are many people out there who certainly do not see the 5 cent coins as money and would not accept them, even as loose change. she went to to say that these people are weird and unreasonable.

and there i was, thinking... half wanting to laugh... for with that one statement, she has also branded herself weird and unreasonable. ah well...
