taiwan day 4 - home

all too soon, my 4 days in taiwan came to an end.

the journey back was similarly poignant as my journey to taipei. it was my final staff travel flight. and this time round, i knew 3 out of the 4 cabin crew. and similar to the in-bound flight, they wanted to take photos with me. but the highlight of this return trip was that i sat beside an american and his singaporean wife.

this person was really interesting. he is norman, 62 years old, came from new jersey, left home at the age of 22, bought a car, drove to california - yup, east to west coast - and work there for a couple of years, got himself established and eventually moved to asia where he lived in several countries. married his first wife in philippines, divorced and married his second wife in singapore. and he had been in singapore for 17 years... and all these years, he remained a tourist, travelling in and out of the country frequently doing his business trips around asia. through the whole journey, we chatted almost non-stop and he was a very well exposed and learned person, sharing his views about all sorts of things. 

reflecting, this taiwan trip was rather impromptu and some of the best things that happened to me were unexpected - tomio, ryan, norman... and it was really good to be able to interact with them. 

and to top off this trip, my colleagues were waiting for me for dinner when i arrived.

it was a good end to my time with the company.
