mistaken identity

i went for my ct scan at the hospital this afternoon.

i was waiting for my turn when a hospital attendant came to me, took a hard look, and asked my name and what i was there for in a very-malay accented hokkien. and maybe becos of the quizzical look i had on my face, she switched to mandarin and repeated the questions again. all her hokkien and mandarin words were so so so bloody broken. she switched to english only after i opened my mouth to speak to her in english.

frankly, i really didn't know if i should feel offended or to praise the her for being service-minded. but she should learn this basic lesson in customer service - never ever stereotype a person base on his/ her looks! then again, did i come across as so china chinese or ah chek (hokkien for "uncle")? or with my botak head, she was indeed telling me i looked like some china-chinese construction worker? 

doh!

ps: i was there to do a ct scan to check for stones in my kidney and urinary tract. the results would be out when i see the doctor next on 19 may.
