it's very disappointing to note that there are people amongst us who argue it is their right to do things that are disrespectful.
and i am referring to a local activist who tried to garner support for people to deface pictures and/ or to burn effigies, and so on of local politicians. far as i am concern, if we don't agree with any policies, we can protest, we can voice our disagreement, etc but we should still be respectful. spitting, throwing shit, throwing eggs on a person's photo is a tat too personal and totally wrong... it is so uncivilised and distasteful.
and as though to place himself on moral high grounds, he said he would not do it if it is against the law, after being warned by the police that it is illegal. my point is, legal or not, the thought of wanting to do these things, by themselves, reflects negatively on the character of the person doing it.
this should not happen in a civilized society. then again, i don't think we are that civilized after all.
