我的失智父親,最卑微的願望!

bee posted this in his facebook and dedicated it to me. i took a look and i felt my throat choking. yup, it is an insurance advertisement, but well... the story is as relevant to me as it is to him. certain parts reminded me of his dad, like how he wrote things to remember his son, but the dementia parts reminded me of my mum. i know such videos tuck on one's heart strings and one can call it an emotional blackmail of sorts. but in all seriousness, it is such moments and reminders that puts things in perspective when we get tense and stressed up when we look after our own elderly parents.

as i said, the parts on dementia reminded me of my mum. and these days, her memory can be as short as a couple of seconds. and one moment she can be talking to me well and the next moment when i continued to complete my sentence, she would ask me why i said what i said. and she knows her memory is fading and often lament the fact that she cannot remember things these days...

but i guess i have gotten used to such occasions. admittedly, i still have my impatient moments. but on the whole, i think i am managing things a lot better now. let's see how things go.
