today is an interesting day. events happening yet need to calibrate my presence, participation. out of respect for my dad, out of respect for my friends, and out of respect for chinese traditions.
- death - went to the block of my friends' father wake. did not visit the wake per se. but met him at the main road to pass him the pek kim (literal translation from hokkien - white gold - monies or cash contributions to the bereaved).
- birth - been invited to ice cream james' daughter's first month celebrations. will drop by the pass him the ang pow later too.
- spring - can see that everyone around me are busy cleaning their house, buying stuff, shopping, cooking, and so on. but for me, it's no celebrations. out of respect for my dad. then again, i reckon there is absolutely nothing to stop me from wishing my friends, relatives, and so on well.
