on my way to rochor earlier, i passed by the dhl balloon - the one that was tied to a cable and machine raised once it was loaded with sightseers. there was nothing new and nothing special about it. but, for that moment, there was this sudden back-flooding of senses that was rather overwhelming - the familiar fresh air, the autumn coolness, the cloudless blue sky, the scent of the temperate forest, and the excitement of seeing hot air balloons flying over me.
that was in 2004 when i was posted for 6-months to florida. edmund had visited me in mid-sep 04 and i had driven from my home in tampa to tallahassee to meet him. it was a fun-filled couple of days where edmund bunked in and where we visited places like disney, key west and factory outlets and drove through the length of the eastern coast of florida through orlando, daytona beach, cape canavera (the space center), miami beach, south beach, fort lauderdale, all the way to the tip of key west and then back to tampa again via the west coast.
such sweet memories :-)
and then i look at the dhl balloon again and thought to myself - damned bloody lame...
heh heh...
