I have all my life planned to transition to public housing when I'm in my fifties. This is on the assumption that with the monetisation of the condo, and the resources I have build, it should allow me to live reasonably ok and comfortably until I die. And of cos, the biggest assumption of it all is that I will die in my mid-70s.
Thing is, life doesn't always happen the way you have planned it. There are many variables that change over time and these changes will screw up your plans. These include inflation, advances in medical care, improved live expectancy, etc. And certainly, looking at where I am now, I am certainly very far from what I have envisioned. I need to review my plans.
I will spend a bit of time reflecting about this in my next couple of posts...
