slept early last night as my body felt like it was breaking apart!
perhaps it was my body clock for i woke up at 6.30am. decided to sleep again and it wasn't until anout 9am when i decided to head down for my breakfast. i had not planned for the day and simply took things as they came along. went out after breakfast and just let my instinct lead me and found myself heading to stanley village eventually. i had always wanted to visit stanley village since some time back but had not make the efforts to do it as the village could only be accessed by public bus and i was too lazy to do it.
the bus journey to the village was interesting as it brought me to quite a few places that i had read a lot about - ocean park, repulse bay, etc. had gone to ocean park twice before some 20-over years ago and it was nice to see the place again. as for repulse bay, it seemed rather uninteresting from the top of the double deck bus. i reached the stanley village at about 11am and hmmm, it was anything but a village. was frankly quite disappointed by it as i had expected to see a traditional hong kong fishing village. instead, i see shopping centers, street bazaar (no different from mongkok except that it's much much smaller), and a whole lot of restaurants selling steaks, pasta, burgers, etc. it felt surreal to note the westernized feel of the place, except for the occasional small roadside temples that were erected for the different taoist gods.
i didn't stay long and left the place about 1-ish. it had started to drizzle too. went back to the hotel and decided to simply nap and take things easy for the rest of the day. my body simply couldn't keep up with me...
heh...
