i had a series of weird dreams last night... and as in all dreams, i cannot recall most parts except that a lot of things happened through the dream. nonetheless, there were 2 parts that i recalled quite vividly - one of which involved a car, a bright red car and another a doll. here're the details...
this was towards the end of my "dreamful" night. i was driving this car and as i drove, i had to navigate a lot of twists and turns and the road was at times bumpy and at times so narrow that i had to squeeze my way through it. interestingly, the car was also quite magical as it was able to squeeze through tight gaps. i recalled there was one particular part of the road where its width was just about as wide as my car, and that there was a hump slightly off the center-right of the road. both sides of the road was rather steep and dropped rather vertically (not sure to where though). as my car approach this hump, for some reason, i was able to squeeze between the hump and the side of the road without dropping off... and... the scene changed.
that the end of the dream involves an animated character, or rather, not an animated character per se, but a real life character that resembles a plastic doll. it was white in colour and looked like a flat marshmallow man, or a gingerbread man. and it was certainly a rather irritating character for some reasons - possibly its looks or its behaviour (cannot recall exactly what behaviour). and in my dream, i was trying very hard to get rid of it, or at least keep it out of my sight. i tried all means - by hitting it, throwing it away, etc, but i simply couldn't. at one point, i even took a gun and shoot it. the gunshot went though the leg (i recalled left leg). a gunshot hole was created and water started pouring out of this hole. nonetheless, it continued to make faces at me, dance around and got me even more irritated. and a voice rang out - perhaps the issue is me myself, and to solve the issue is to stop feeling irritated by this doll... embrace it.
i woke up after that... 4am. darned, a timing that was neither here nor there.
but yeah, that was my "dreamful" night.
Hi Jeffrey,
ReplyDeleteYou do have interesting dreams :-) Mine have been rather boring recently.
If I may offer some suggestions on interpretations?
You have already established motor vehicles as a symbol of your outer life (career, profession, standing in the world) in the wild rickety truck ride by a river near your grandparents village in a prior dream. Things are now going much better with a bright red car cruising around and through obstacles as if my magic. Good times! But the driver is making it happen along with some good fortune. Some modesty is good if it helps keep us grounded, but you should accept your accomplishments from your hard, thoughtful work. You are making it happen. You have the ability to make good things happen through various challenges and you should accept your strength and gifts. A bright red car is a pretty good symbol for a fire horse in stride :-) I wonder what it looks like in full stride? Some modesty is still allowed ;-)
The second dream I agree with the conclusion of acceptance: embrace it. Why the flat plastic doll looking creature? I would guess it comes from your early childhood as a literal doll or as an image (cartoon, poster art, book, advertising, imaginary playmate). There are two possible interpretations that strike me.
1. It is a symbol of your childhood self that wants you to come out and play again. At least sometimes. We all grow up and put away childish things and behaviors. There is great pressure on men in particular to "grow up" and "man up". Have you been too serious and adult? Is it time to embrace your inner child and come out and play some times? Young children are carefree fun seekers who don't worry about the judgments of others until they are yelled at, and then, if they can, will run off laughing to have fun somewhere else :-) Do you need more carefree fun? It is definitely not fun being an "adult" 24/7 ;-)
2. The other symbol is that of our pesky, pestering young siblings. The behavior seems to fit. It is definitely a good thing that loaded guns were not available ;-) Do you feel the need to reconnect with your siblings? To tolerate their behavior to an extent, but still have your boundaries?
Or a combination of both? And / or something else?
Just my thoughts. Best regards, Edwin
Hey Edwin,
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing. Always interesting to see how you interpret dreams. The period up to two weeks ago was an extremely stressful for me cos it was annual budgeting and approval of next years' plans. I shared my dream with my colleagues and they suggested that the marshmallow man was the approval of plans process and how i had resisted it. It provides a perspective of how the dream could be interpreted.
Truth be told, I was too exhausted to try to interpret it and I didn't really put too much thoughts into it. But yes, there are several possible ways to look at it. I do believe my dreams are an expression of my subconscious and it probably has a logic to it. But specifically for this first dream, all said and done, the key lesson i derived out of it was - let go of the resistance and embrace whatever comes along. Outcomes (be it wisdom, experience, etc) are a product of a process and I should just adopt a more open view to things and embrace it as it unfolds.
:-)
Jeffrey
Hi Jeffery,
ReplyDeleteI like your interpretation for the first dream. That really works.
I hope your company isn't making the budget process that aggravating to cause the 2nd. Dreams are allowed to be dramatic so let's hope it's just that ;-)
Best wishes, Edwin
